01/25/12 - Requested to send out the following alert on Suspicious Vehicle/Hauler in Neighborhood  - Please be on the lookout   **

On  Friday January 20 between 4 am and 11 am  a pickup truck with a car hauling trailer, appeared on Majestic near West Parkway (south side). Both the truck and trailer have out of state plates. The truck trailer combo remained there until between 11am and noon today where it proceeded to head north on Beaverland.  No one was immediately able to identify who it belonged to.  Today (01/25/12) the trailer was sighted without the truck beside a vacant house at the south west corner of Bramell and Majestic.

The Truck is a light gold or similar color.  I believe the make is Dodge.  It is a One ton Dually with a fifth wheel hitch in the bed.  If I recall The truck appeared to have Florida plates on the front, rear plates were not easily visible due to the trailer

The trailer is a black triple axle wedge style auto transport trailer.  It has a fair amount of rust, a kingpin style hitch and winch at the front of the deck.  This trailer is has the capacity to hold three average sized cars.   See Reference picture for more (FOR REFERENCE ONLY NOT AN ACTUAL PHOTO).  The plate is an out of state plate that I am unable to identify as it partially obscured by the mounting.

I do not recall any  D.O.T numbers or other motor carrier identification  readily visible on the truck, and non are present on the trailer.

if you could get word out to the neighborhood and our radio patrol asking them to be on the lookout for this trailer and keep a log of its location.   A one block jump is strange to me.

*** Suspicious Activity Alert  - 01/06/2012  ***
Theft of AC unit from Vacant home at 8227 Parkland reported
.

A neighbor came home today for lunch and found 2 Caucasian males in a black and gray pick up truck  (license plate number 4HE C41) backed into the driveway of the vacant home located at 8227 Parkland.

The neighbor's dog was out and when they went to see about her, they asked one of the men what was he doing.  He said the owners had purchased a new AC system and they were removing the old one.  To the neighbor's knowledge no one has purchased this home.  The neighbor left the dog out and returned to get a piece of paper to write the plate number down, the men drove off and leaving the gate open.  The neighbor suspects they were not from a company they identified in Garden City and there was no Logo on the truck.    A call will be made to see if the police will take a report by phone.

Winter Water Main Breaks

CALL DWSD TO REPORT WINTER WATER MAIN BREAKS

In Detroit, winter and springtime usher in a larger number of breaks, and there are often multiple contributing factors. Many of the pipes in Detroit and across the country are aging, and older pipes are more likely to have experienced stress that can lead to leaks and breaks. Pipe materials also expand and contract with changes in temperature. If the pipe is in a place where it cannot absorb the stress, it will crack.

The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) is dedicated to maintaining the hundreds of miles of water mains within the city. A water main break can cause aggravation and inconvenience to residents, as well as potential damage to their property.  A break can result in low water pressure, no water flow at all, or perhaps water flowing freely in the street.   Residents who see a water main break should contact the DWSD 24-hour Emergency Maintenance and Repair Center at (313) 267-7401.
